2008 Duathlon Series
The 2008 events are now finished. We are now busy preparing for next year's series. We're looking into a 'Formula 1' duathlon for the August event next year. 2004 was that last time we ran a 'Formula 1' event, so we feel it's about time to bring it back. More detail will follow in 2009.
Thank you to all competitors and helpers (the OPW and Order of Malta deserve special mention) for making it a great series. Without you the series would not be possible. Hope to see you again in 2009.

Duathlon Series Background
The Dublin City Duathlon Series is held in the Phoenix Park on a circuit closed to traffic and comprises a 2mile run, 10 mile cycle
and finally
a 2 mile run. This series is now in it’s 6th year and due to it’s popularity, we’ve moved to a larger course. The distances
are the same, just the number of laps has been reduced. Plus we’ve put in a little hill on the bike!!!
With about 50 newcomers per event, many on mountain bikes, it’s the ideal first event for those looking to get into the multi-sport
and triathlon scene. However newcomers are not to be underestimated; Garry Crossan won at his first attempt. Also as cash‘primes’ are given for the first person to finish the first 2mile leg, certain track stars (who shall remain nameless) have been know
to race for the ‘primes’ alone.
The course was designed with first timers in mind, as the run is flat and the cycle is on wide well surfaced roads, which are
closed to traffic. Most of the 100 plus competitors in each race finish within 25 minutes of the winners, so it’s very competitive
and you’re guaranteed not to be in no-mans land during the event, finding yourself minutes from competitors ahead and behind you.
Registration opens at 6pm on the night of each event.
